A message from the Chair

After months of planning, we were extremely fortunate that our international launch was able to take place on 11 March just before public events were curtailed because of the current pandemic.

COVID -19 presents us all with new and unexpected challenges. The current emergency is an opportunity to review the things we really value in life – not only our families and friends, but also our links with the wider world and the quality of the places around us. The Commonwealth is an extended family whose lives, histories and futures are all deeply intertwined.

Many of the places we all care about are vulnerable to neglect, misguided development or natural disasters, which is why one of our top priorities is developing a Commonwealth Heritage at Risk Register. This will be explained in more detail in future editions of our newsletter and amplified, in due course, on our website.

While the lockdown remains in place we will continue to circulate our regular newsletters; the next edition will be sent at the end of April. Meanwhile do look out for our posts on Instagram and LinkedIn and contribute, or just follow us where possible, and please encourage others who may be interested to sign up to receive our newsletters.

In order to progress our plans including our work on Heritage at Risk, talks, lectures and other events, plus our inaugural annual conference, we need to raise funds, so please sign up as a corporate, institution or individual member, or consider becoming a sponsor to help give us the essential resources we need to fulfil our objectives.

Every membership, every donation and every pledge of support helps us with our mission to enable Commonwealth countries to safeguard their heritage for future generations.
