Edinburgh to Harvard!

We are very happy to share some exciting news from MS Srinivas, our former Commonwealth Heritage Forum-sponsored scholar at the University of Edinburgh:

"I am delighted to inform you that I will be beginning my PhD in architectural history later this year at Harvard University! I was lucky enough to also be offered a Gates scholarship at Cambridge University, but decided that the program at Harvard would be a better fit. Members of the CHF might also appreciate that British Imperial history will continue to be an important part of my work".

MS has emphasised the incredible impact that the Commonwealth Heritage Forum sponsorship has had on his architecture career, as he is passionate about conservation, community outreach, and researching British colonial buildings in India.

MS was born in India and earned his BArch from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi in 2022. He then received a Commonwealth Heritage Forum sponsored place on the MSc in Architectural History and Theory at the University of Edinburgh. MS also attended the (then) Prince’s Foundation Summer School in July 2022 at Dumfries House, Scotland. Participating in the Summer School was funded by our programme and MS said that it helped him to realise his passion for heritage preservation and conservation skills as he sought to marry architectural research with traditional ‘hands on’ craft expertise. His dissertation at Edinburgh focussed on the conservation of British colonial architecture and heritage across the Commonwealth.

We wish him all the best for this next exciting step.
